Scott Coyle

Scott David Coyle was born on May 14, 1959, on the family farm near Pisgah, Iowa, to Darrell and Beverly (Burger) Coyle. He attended West Harrison High School, graduating with the Class of 1978. Throughout his life, Scott enjoyed a variety of interests and hobbies. He loved going fishing, whether it was the excitement of a catch or simply the peace and quiet of sitting near the water. Scott also loved to cook, and he enjoyed spending time preparing his favorite meals. Scott spent much of his life in western Iowa, including time living in Harlan and Logan. Most recently, he was a resident of Azria Health Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Scott was a big football fan. His teams were the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs. One of his favorite memories was going to Kinnick Stadium to watch the Hawks play in person. He also loved a good scare. An avid reader of Stephen King novels and a fan of horror movies, Scott enjoyed the suspense and excitement of a good story. His interests also extended to cars and motorcycles, which he appreciated throughout his life. While Scott enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes, it is the memories of the everyday moments, shared experiences, and family connections that will remain with those who knew and loved him. His life was filled with the interests and experiences that made him uniquely Scott, and those memories will continue to be cherished by his family.

Scott, 67, passed away on October 21, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories shared with family and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Beverly Coyle. He is survived by his siblings, Gregg Coyle (Cindy) of Athens, Georgia, Denise Clark (Jeff) of Pisgah, and Jeremy Coyle and his girlfriend, TJ Freeborn, of Des Moines, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Scott will be remembered with love by his family and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, and may the memories of his life bring comfort and smiles to those who knew him.

The family will be holding a private graveside service.
