Scott Freeman Vandemark was born April 19, 1977, to Dan and Melanie (Handke) Vandemark in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He was raised near Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1997. Scott drove a truck and worked as a farm hand for various farmers. He also worked as a welder at Bond Equipment for a short time. Most recently Scott worked for Aaron Perkins Trucking, LLC and Barto Trucking out of Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
Scott enjoyed fishing, watching football, and shooting the shit with the guys.
Scott died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 43 years, seven months, and five days.
Scott was preceded in death by his mother on September 2, 2015; sister, Daniele “Dottie” Vandemark on December 3, 2016; and grandparents, Freeman and Iva Vandemark and Edward Handke. He is survived by his two sons, Devin Vandemark of Woodbine, Noah Vandemark of Essex, Iowa; father, Dan Vandemark and his wife Paula of Woodbine; sister, Laurie and her husband Brian Doyle of Louisdale Nova Scotia, Canada; special friend, Amber Swift of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grand-parents, Ila Handke of Glenwood, Iowa and Richard and Juanita Steffen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two half-siblings, Kristi Vandemark and her friend Justin Saggs of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Danny Vandemark of Woodbine; step-brother, Tim Steffen and his wife Kelly of Sierra Vista, Arizona; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Scott was able to help many people with his
generous gift of organ and tissue donation.
