Sharon Leonard

Sharon Elaine (Peterson) Leonard was born February 21, 1943, to Bernard and Evelyn (Hughes) Peterson in Portsmouth, Iowa. She was raised near Logan and graduated from Logan High School. Sharon married Skip Leonard on March 3, 1964. They made their home outside of Logan and moved to their current farm in 1989. Sharon worked at the Gambles store and also for several years at the G & L True Value store.

Sharon was an active member of the Logan Christian Church. She was an exceptional organizer and handled the lunches for funerals at the church. She also helped with the Kid Care by both baby-sitting and serving their snacks. Sharon loved to laugh and share her happiness. One way she did this was by decorating her mailbox on the highway for holidays or birthdays for everyone to see. Sharon enjoyed traveling, but her favorite thing to do was spend time with her kids and grandkids. Sharon will always be remembered for her kind words, especially in all the cards she sent to people. She will also be remembered for her red lipstick and her loving Grandma Sharon kisses.

Sharon died on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 76 years.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sheldon Peterson; and grandson, Jacob Leonard. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Skip Leonard of Logan, Iowa; two children, Marc Leonard of Bellevue, Nebraska, Jill (David) Clark of Blair, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Brent (Megan) Leonard, Christin (Monte) Clark, Nathan Clark and Ryan Clark; eight great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Cheryl Peterson of Omaha, Nebraska; siblings-in-law, Dean (Betty) Leonard of Red Oak, Iowa and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
