Sharon Evonne (Gosch) Mahlberg was the sixth child born to Herbert and Alice (Rude) Gosch on August 27, 1954, in Mapleton, Iowa. She lived in the Castana area and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1972 and moved to Sioux City, Iowa. Sharon married Robert Mahlberg on May 31, 1980. The couple moved to Soldier in 1984. Sharon worked at AalFs Manufacturing Company for 27 years. After that company closed she attended WIT and graduated with honors with a degree as an administrative assistant/legal in 2001. She then accepted a job at Security National Bank in Sioux City where she was currently working.
Sharon was active in her church and had a strong faith. She enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher, secretary and janitor for the church. She was very proud of the work she did in creating a cemetery directory of the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. She was also a 4-H leader. She enjoyed crafts, genealogy, board games, going to the casino and bluebirds.
Sharon died on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 61 years, four months, and 17 days.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father and sister, Karen Gosch. She is survived by her husband, Bob Mahlberg of Soldier, Iowa; daughter, Josie (Josh) Cliffe of Ellsworth, Iowa; son, Anthony (Rebecca) Mahlberg of Sloan, Iowa; granddaughter, Amaiah Mahlberg; grandson, Trent Mahlberg; mother, Alice Gosch of Onawa, Iowa; two brothers, Leonard (Diane) Gosch of Mapleton, Iowa, David (Linda) Gosch of Charter Oak, Iowa; four sisters, Becky (Dennis) Marcum of Onawa, Iowa, Marla Bianchini of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Wanita (Lloyd) Myers of Onawa, Iowa, Connie (David) Jansen of Pottsboro, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
