Sherrill Jane Lubbers was born on July 10, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Arthur and Bertha (Kelley) Bjorklund. She graduated from the Webb, Iowa school in 1960 and from Buena Vista College in 1965 with a degree in elementary education. Sherrill also attended the University of South Dakota where she earned her master’s degree in elementary administration and reading. She taught school in Spencer, Iowa, Cherokee, Iowa, Sac City, Iowa and Woodbine, Iowa. Sherrill was united in marriage to Phil Lubbers on August 18, 1967, at the First Baptist Church in Spencer. She had a strong faith and accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age. She was currently a member of the First Christian Church in Woodbine.

Over the years, Sherrill was very active in leading several bible studies and teaching bible school and Sunday school. She was an active member in the Christian’s Women’s Club serving as chairman and PEO serving as president as well as holding other offices. On Tuesdays she attended the Rose Vista sing-a-longs where she often played the piano. She also played piano at church. Sherrill and Phil sang numerous duets together. She also served on the meal site board as treasurer. Sherrill loved to bake cookies and candy during the holidays and would deliver boxes to shut-ins and to residents at the nursing home. She was also a great seamstress. Sherrill and Phil traveled to all of the 50 states, many as part of a bus tour. Most of all, she loved her family and especially enjoyed attending all of their activities.
