Shirley Ann (Jules) Bolton was born December 13, 1933, to Gustav and Elsie (Rock) Jules in Shelby, Iowa. She attended school through the 6th grade in Shelby, Iowa and graduated from Harlan High School. She took bookkeeping classes in college and worked for Kenworth Trucking in Omaha. Shirley married Bill Kardell and the couple was blessed with three children. They lived in Harlan, Iowa. Shirley married James Glenn and the couple was blessed with one daughter and James adopted Shirley's children from her first marriage. The family lived in Omaha and Colorado where Shirley worked at Safeway. James died so Shirley returned to Omaha and worked for Baker's Supermarket. On August 4, 1980, Shirley married Leonard Bolton in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Dunlap. Shirley had an aneurysm in November of 1999 and then a stroke three weeks later. She became a resident of the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in 2000.

Shirley was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap and also the Ladies Aide. She was in a women's coffee club. She loved to play cards, dance, and travel with Leonard.

Shirley died Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 78 years, one month, and 28 days.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; infant daughter, Debbie Kardell; son, Doug Glenn; brother-in-law, Duane Peyton and step son-in-law, Sid Lehan. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Bolton of Dunlap, Iowa; son, Dave Glenn of Dunlap, Iowa; daughter, Jenneane (Daniel) Hendon of Dunlap, Iowa; step children, Linda (Alan) Dane of Omaha, Nebraska, Bonnie (Bob) Peterson of Omaha, Nebraska; Jeff (Penny) Bolton of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Julie (Jim) Thrasher of Des Moines, Iowa, Steve (Deb) Bolton of Clearwater, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Peyton and Jane (Ed) Kirk all of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
