Steven Eugene Brandon was born on September 22, 1959, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to William Jr. and Kathryn (Swanson) Brandon. He grew up in Logan, Iowa, graduating in the class of 1979. Steve went on to further his education at Iowa Western Community College where he studied Business Management. In 1983, Steve was united in marriage to Amy Archer and they were blessed with two children, Tommy and Marie. He and Amy were later divorced. Steve worked many wonderful jobs including at the Country Store, Western Auto, Sears, Woodhouse, Wonder Bread and Bluffs Run. On September 2, 2000, Steve was united in marriage to Carol Killpack at the Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He joined the Community of Christ Church in 2021.
Throughout his life, Steve embodied the values of loyalty and love. His role as a devoted father brought him immense joy, and his children were truly the light of his life. As a husband, he exemplified selflessness and devotion, always putting the needs of Carol above his own. His family meant everything to him, and his presence brought warmth and happiness to those around him. Steve had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued. He was known for his friendly demeanor and genuine interest in others. His circle of friends was vast because he made it a point to establish deep connections with those he encountered. Whether it was through his involvement as a Boy Scout leader or simply lending an ear to someone in need, Steve's impact on those around him was profound.
Steve died on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 64 years, six months and 11 days.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Bill Brandon; daughter, Marie Stegemann; and grandparents, Jack and Lucille Swanson and William and Hazel Brandon. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carol Brandon of Logan; son, Tommy Brandon of Logan; mother, Kathy Brandon of Council Bluffs; sister, Deb and her husband Rex Gochenour of Missouri Valley, Iowa; foreign exchange brother, Goran Sandahl of Sweden; foreign exchange sons, Nico Nyberg of Finland and Erik Hyllienmark of Sweden; and many other relatives and friends.
