Ted Grandmont

Theodore Emil Grandmont was born August 2, 1933, in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Theodore and Helen (Fisher) Grandmont. Ted grew up in the Andover, MA. He later moved to Haverhill, MA and worked as a meat cutter. Ted proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge he moved to Omaha where he met Judy Blackman. Ted married Judy on October 29, 1965, in Poughkeepsie, NY. The couple moved to Woodbine in 1967. Ted worked at Foodland until 1979. He then purchased his first semi and drove for Holiday Express out of Estherville, IA. In 1986 he sold his truck and moved to California where he managed an apartment complex until 1991. Ted & Judy moved to Avoca, IA where Ted worked for Jim's meats until his retirement in 1998. After Judy's death in 2011; Ted moved to Council Bluffs. Ted enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

Ted died December 7, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 81 years, four months and five days.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Justin Grandmont; and sister, Sandra Bolucas. He is survived by his eight children, Ed Grandmont of Woodbine, IA, Kim (Wayne) Woebke and Karen Rice all of Council Bluffs, IA, Jeff Grandmont of Avoca, IA; and Sharon, Russell, Ricky and Ronnie Grandmont all from the west coast; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; good friend, Sherry Eppenbach of Council Bluffs, IA; two sisters, Jane Sherman of Haverhill, MA, Gail Papas of Baltimore, MD; brother, Daniel Deflorio of Springfield, MO; and many other relatives and friends.
