Terry Lee Sorey was born May 1, 1951, to Ralph and Marian (Condron) Sorey in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1970. Terry farmed near Woodbine and then worked at the Rock Quarry, was a truck driver for Scribner where he received many driving awards and then worked at Vulcan Industries in Missouri Valley, Iowa for nearly 20 years. Terry married Mary (Stahlnecker) on May 11, 1994, in Logan, Iowa.
Terry was one of the co-founders of the Hill Blazers Club. He loved horses and participated in many Saddle Club horse shows. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and motorcycling. He enjoyed antique tractors and tractor pulls. He particularly enjoyed taking vacations on the motorcycle or in the Mustang. He also thoroughly enjoyed watching parades and being in the parades. The couple enjoyed participating in tractor rides together.
Terry died on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at his home in Woodbine, Iowa after a strong fight against cancer at the age of 63 years, three months, and 29 days.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sorey of Woodbine, Iowa; three daughters, Shelly (Eric) Schmidt of Harlan, Iowa, Shannon Sorey of Kirkman, Iowa, Sheila (Ron) Rogers of Omaha, Nebraska; step-son, Aaron Hillman of Omaha, Nebraska; six grand-children; one great grandson; three sisters, Deanna (Jim) Porter of Woodbine, Iowa, Judy Sorey of Logan, Iowa, Lori (Bill) Benson of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
