Thelma Barrier

Thelma Beatrice Marie (Gibson) Barrier was born on January 28, 1916, near Missouri Valley Iowa to William and Laura (Rhoten) Gibson. She grew up in the Missouri Valley area and attended Missouri Valley schools. On August 31, 1933, Thelma married George Barrier, Sr. The couple farmed east of Logan until 1973 when they moved into Logan. George died in 1975. Thelma moved to Woodland Apartments in 2004.

Thelma enjoyed her chickens and gardening. She loved quilting, embroidery, crocheting, baking, canning and doing word search puzzles.

Thelma died on Monday, August 29, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 100 years, seven months and one day.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons, one in infancy and Thomas and George Jr.; daughter, Betty Coleman; grandson, Rick Coleman; six brothers, Charles, William, Karl, Harold, Everett and Truman Gibson. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Barrier of Woodbine, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
