Mary Theresa (Gilles) Langenfeld was born September 12, 1921, in Stacyville, Iowa to parents Roy & Anna (Seibert) Gilles. Theresa graduated from Visitation Catholic High School in Stacyville in 1939. Theresa worked at a hospital in Osage, Iowa and then at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. On September 9, 1943, Theresa married Greg Langenfeld in Stacyville, Iowa. The couple lived in Westphalia, then northwest of Panama and in Defiance. In 1957, they bought their farm near Dunlap. In 1972, the couple moved into Dunlap.
Theresa was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters.
Theresa died on Friday, July 22, 2005 at the Dunlap
Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 83 years, ten months and ten days.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, five brothers, Wilfred, Wilmer, Vernon, Rueben and Danny Gilles and two sisters Adeline Krebsbach and Marian Johnson. She is survived by her husband Greg Langenfeld of Dunlap, Iowa; three daughters, Sue and her husband Jeff Craig of Memphis, TN, Elaine Langenfeld and special friend Rod Hansen of Omaha and Cheryl and her husband Marc Casebolt of Simi Valley, CA; three sons, Dave Langenfeld and his wife Chris of Fremont, NE, Jerry Langenfeld and his wife Mary Anne of Sunland, CA and Keith Langenfeld and his wife Bonnie of Wayne, NE; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; five step grandchildren; five step great great grandchildren; brother Paul Gilles & wife Gertie of Waterloo, IA; sister Elizabeth Hemann of Stacyville, IA and many other relatives and friends.
