Virginia Cave

Virginia Mae (Harmon) Cave was born May 23, 1921, near Pisgah, Iowa to George Emmett and Minnie Etta (Outhouse) Harmon. She attended country school east of Moorhead, grade school in Moorhead and then graduated from Pisgah High School in 1939. Virginia married Leroy Cave November 26, 1939, at Virginia's parents' home in Pisgah. The couple lived in the Pisgah area and then moved to Avoca in 1950. While living in Avoca Virginia worked in the grocery store meat department-wrapping the meat. The couple moved to Persia and she worked in a grocery store there as well. In 1967 the couple moved to Woodbine and Virginia worked at the Gambles Store. She retired from Gambles in 1986. Leroy died on September 7, 2011.

Virginia was a member of the Community of Christ where she served as an Elder. She served as the pastor of the Persia Church for two years and she also served on the election board for many years.

Virginia died Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 92 years, three months, and 25 days.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Cave; infant son, Robert Leroy Cave; daughter-in-law, Ginny Cave; two brothers, Everett and George Harmon; and sister, Velma Holben. She is survived by her two sons, Jim Cave of Logan, Iowa and Jack Cave and Jeanette Caldeira of Honolulu, Hawaii; seven grand-children; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Howard Harmon and his wife Darlene of West Liberty, Iowa; sister Margaret Hamer of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
