Wallace Glen Finken was born September 14, 1927, to Henry and Jesse (Guyett) Finken in Woodbine, Iowa. He was raised in woodbine on a farm west of town. He attended Whitesboro County School and graduated from the Normal High School in 1945. Wally then farmed with his parents. Wally married Violet Petersen on September 24, 1948, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple farmed east of Woodbine. Wally also worked at a meatpacking plant during the winter months. Wally retired from farming in 1986 and moved into Woodbine.

Wally was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Logan. He enjoyed his retirement by working at the Harrison County visitors' center. His hobbies included riding his bicycle and building model airplanes. He also enjoyed working on the farm, woodworking and spending time with people.

Wally died on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 11 months and two days.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his nine children, Carol Finken of Luxembourg, Janice (Keith) Keller of Phoenix, Arizona, Nina Brummer of Gretna, Nebraska, Wayne Finke of Woodbine, Iowa, Bonnie Figueroa of Gilbert, Arizona, Warren Finken of Phoenix, Arizona, Wade (Pam) Finken of Phoenix, Arizona, Sheila Finken of Yuma, Arizona, Sheri Finken of Woodbine, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Dwight Finken of Raleigh, North Carolina; and many other relatives and friends.
