William "Bill" Bruck
William "Bill" Bruck was born July 21, 1944, in Earling, Iowa to Alfred and Mildred (Schneider) Bruck. He grew up in the Earling and Dow City areas, and he graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School. He worked for Gaul Tractor Service while he was in high school. After graduation he enlisted in the Army National Guard and served for six years. He was stationed at Ford Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Knox, Kentucky. On May 10, 1964, Bill started working for Farmland. He also worked for Roger Collins in the Arion area as a hired hand. On June 12, 1965, he married Peggy Reing in Panama, Iowa. The couple lived in the Arion area and had three children. On September 3, 1971, he married Betty Gilbreath Bedsual. The couple has lived in the Dow City area since then. Betty died August 17, 2003.
Bill was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He served on the church council and as an usher.
Bill died September 12, 2003, in an automobile accident near his home at the age of 59 years, one month, and 22 days.
   Bill is preceded in death by his father and his wife, Betty.  He is survived by his three children Cathy and her husband Doug Deeter of Dover, Delaware, Cindy and her husband Alan Dassow of Coal Valley, Illinois, BJ Bruck and his wife Lyndy of Rockford, Iowa; three grandchildren; his mother and step-father Mildred and Andy Bruck of Earling, Iowa; five siblings Pat Blankman and Dick Siemer of Dow City, Iowa, Ron Bruck and his wife Mary of Harlan, Iowa, Gary Bruck and his wife Mary of Wills Point, Texas, Don "Short" Bruck and his wife JoAnn of Earling, Iowa and Shirley and her husband Dan Grote of Earling and many other relatives and friends.
