Ardith Yvonne (Benson) Cox was born October 2, 1940, to Lloyd and Edna (Gray) Benson in Pipestone, Minnesota. The family moved to Iowa where she grew up on various farms in the Onawa, Iowa area. She graduated from the Onawa High School in 1959. After graduating, she worked at Toy National Bank, Securities Acceptance Finance Corporation and Siouxland Credit in Sioux City, Iowa. Ardith married Thomas Cox on June 2, 1962, and they initially resided on a farm in Jackson, Nebraska where they had their first child, Tammy, on July 9, 1963. In 1964 they moved to a farm East of Pisgah, Iowa where they had their second child, Timothy, on July 21, 1966. Shortly after Tim was born, they moved to another farm just down the road and purchased it in 1969. They lived there until they moved to Woodbine, Iowa in 2019. In 1968 Ardith joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she became a Deaconess, Dorcas Lady, Sabbath School Secretary and taught the Children’s and Adult Sabbath School. The Lord was the center of her life. Following her marriage, Ardith was a wife/mother and sold Amway and Watkins products. In January 1981 she began working at Woodmen of the World Life Insurance in Omaha, Nebraska until she retired in 2001.  She was very active in the fraternity, held many offices and attended many jurisdiction conventions.

Ardith loved spending time with her family and friends, taking her greatest joy in her grandchildren. She loved gospel music, the beautiful Iowa hills, watching game shows and movies and playing cards and other games. If she was losing, the rules could suddenly change in her favor. Scrabble was always played with her trusty dictionary in hand, ready to challenge your word.
