Cheryl Marlene Oloff was born on March 18, 1956, to Leroy and Marlene (Simmons) Nielsen in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up in the   Oakland/Hancock area and graduated from Oakland High School in 1974. After graduation, Cheryl started working in the medical field. Cheryl married Lyle Oloff on July 20, 1976, in Council Bluffs. She started as a Candy Striper and kept moving up from there. She worked at the nursing home in Oakland and then the hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She decided to go back to college and in 1993, she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Cheryl loved the outdoors, especially fishing. She also enjoyed deer hunting and 4-wheeling. Cheryl loved animals and was known for looking for stray animals to take care of. Overall, she cherished farm life.

Cheryl died on June 8, 2020, after being diagnosed with ALS, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home attaining the age of 64 years, two months and 21 days.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Lyle Oloff, Jr. of Portsmouth, Iowa; siblings, Les Nielsen and wife LaVaughn of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Pam Reed, Deb and husband Jeff Calhoon and Gene Nielsen all of Avoca, Iowa, David Nielsen and Sherri Diamond of Council Bluffs, and Jayne and husband Jeff Riggs of Olathe, Kansas; father-in-law, Lyle Oloff, Sr. of Missouri Valley, Iowa; multiple nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
