Dale Anthony Michel was born on May 21, 1957, to parents Gary and Arlene (Feser) Michel. He went to school in Woodbine, graduating with the Class of 1976. After graduation, Dale went to work at Farmland in Denison, where he worked for 44 years. Dale married Anita Blum on September 23, 1977, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine.
Dale, known to many as Red, was a long-time member of the Woodbine Fire and Rescue Department. He started with the department in November of 1986 and was a very dedicated member. He served as fire chief for many years. Dale loved Nascar races. He enjoyed hunting, camping, riding his motorcycle and trips to Okoboji. He also spent a lot of time at the salvage yard helping his dad. Most of all, Dale enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dale died on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at the Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 63 years, seven month and 20 days.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Anita on April 19, 2019; mother, Arlene; and daughter, Amy Michel. He is survived by his two children, Ryan Michel and his wife Lacey of Woodbine, Iowa and Stephanie and her husband David Rhoten of Council Bluffs, Iowa; five grandchildren; father, Gary Michel of Woodbine, Iowa; siblings, Jodi and her husband Robin Volkens of Treynor, Iowa, Gale Michel of Woodbine, Iowa and Juli and Gary Coenen also of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
