DUE TO FEDERAL AND STATE GUIDANCE ON GATHERINGS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, MASKS ARE RECOMMENDED AT THE VISITATION.

Daniel Richard Peterson was born on January 25, 1946, to Richard and Kathryn (Compton) Peterson in Fremont, Nebraska. He lived in Fremont until the age of 10 and then the family moved to Harlan. Dan was active in high school competing in basketball, wrestling, track and cross country, but he said his favorite was wrestling. He graduated in 1965 and    followed in his dad’s footsteps and worked at Peterson Auto Supply. Dan married Connie Jo Jenkins on  August 9, 1969. After Dan’s dad sold the store, Dan decided to become a cook at the Villager. After a couple of years, Dan became the cook at Rose Vista for five years. He then cooked at the Iowa Feed and Grain for two years. Connie died on September 4, 2001. Shortly after that, Dan’s health started to decline. He was living in Woodlands, but he needed more care and Rose Vista became his home.

Dan was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Harlan and he was also a Shriner. He really enjoyed singing at the Rose Vista sing-a-longs ~ especially the Christmas songs.

Dan died on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 74 years, eight months, and 16 days.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie Peterson; and sister-in-law, Marva Pierson. He is survived by his two children, Traci Lynn Stephens and her boyfriend Tony Miller, Sr. of Missouri Valley, Iowa,  Jason Peterson and his fiancé Sara Hawkins of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandsons, one granddaughter; brother, Dave Peterson and his wife Rosie of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister-in-law, Nancy and her husband Paul Marshall of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other  relatives and friends.
