David Paul Hoffman was born on April 5, 1955, to Leonard and Beverly (Nicola) Hoffman in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He grew up in Crescent and attended Underwood High School. In August of 1972, David joined the Navy in San Diego, California. After his honorable discharge, David worked for a time at the Schemmer Rock Quarry in Logan. In the spring of 1980, he started working at Farmland and worked there for 38 years, retiring in 2018. David married Nancy Ulmer in January of 1980 and to this union three children were born.

David liked to ride his Harley. He loved to go to the Raceway and Cheers and he loved to socialize with friends. He enjoyed watching football and drinking his Budweiser. He was especially fond of the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes. David was very much a creature of habit. He was known as a jokester with Farmland co-workers.

David died on May 11, 2020, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 65 years, one month and six days.
