Eddie Ray Beam was born on June 7, 1942 to Clarence and Johanna (Detlefsen) Beam in Arion, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City, Iowa. Ed received his education in country school and then graduated from Dow City High School. In 1968, Eddie married the love of his life, Linda Hamblen. To this union four children were born, Andrea, Brenda, Cathy and Eddie. Eddie, or as most called him Ed, served in Germany during his time in the US Army. Ed cherished the care he received from the VA Program in Omaha. Ed was employed at Farmland Foods for 44 years and retired as a number 1 employee.

Ed loved his family. Ed's children and grandchildren were cherished by him and setting outside and telling stories to them were some of his favorite times. Ed loved to mow and till yards, he treasured his Allis Chalmers lawn mowers. Ed loved Johnny Horton and Conway Twitty music and enjoyed sitting outside with his family, drinking Dr. Pepper and singing with them. Ed was a hard worker, had a quick wit and would help anyone who needed help. Ed enjoyed old cars and pickups, could rebuild motors and mowers. He got great comfort in being the grandpa that always gave his grandkids rides on his many Allis mowers. Ed loved his pickup, his trips with his wife to the casino and spreading his wisdom on life to everyone who knew him.

Ed died on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, six months and 11 days.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Gilbert, Vernon, John Allen, Glen, Dale and Gene Beam; nephews Donald Beam and Bryan Dalton. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Beam of Arion, Iowa; four children, Andrea and her husband Scott Ellison of Arion, Brenda and her husband Jerry Brus of Denison, Iowa, Cathy and her husband Billy Whitenack of Arion and Eddie Beam of Arion; grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica, Brittany, David, Jake, Ashlee, Justin, Jarred, BreeAnna, Brady, Katilyn, Coby and Paige; great grandchildren, RayLee, Korra, Jonah, Mason and Braylynn; two sisters, Evelyn Dalton of Vail, Iowa and Jane and her husband Jay Bell of Arion; two brothers, Paul Beam and his wife Edee of Bemidji, Minnesota and James Beam and his wife Tammy of Arion and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials my be given to the Omaha VA Medical Center at 4101 Woolworth Ave., Omaha, NE 68105.

A Celebration of Life for Eddie will be held at a later date.
