Judith Marie (Schmit) Poore was born January 11, 1948, to Aloysius and Elizabeth “Betty” (Scholtes) Schmit in Omaha, Nebraska. She was raised in Omaha until 1964, when the family moved to Murdock, Nebraska. She graduated from Murdock High School in 1966. She attended the Omaha School of Practical Nursing in 1968. She worked at the Lutheran Hospital and Dr. Drozda's office in Omaha. She also worked at Rose Vista Nursing Home for more than 20 years; where she was first a charge nurse, and then after returning to school to get her RN licensing, she was the Director of Nursing. In 1999, she started working in the Surgery Department at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She retired from Methodist on January 2, 2014, after 15 years of service.

Judy married Ervin Poore in Blair, Nebraska, on August 22, 1970, and to this union four sons were born: Jeremy Joseph, Jarrod Ervin, Joseph Taylor, and Jonathan Patrick. Judy loved quilting and scrap booking. She also enjoyed camping and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her family. Family dinners were a special event and Thanksgiving always had 50 to 60 guests in attendance.

Judy died at home on March 21, 2020, at the age of 72 years, two months and ten days.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Joseph, Jerome Jerry, and Jim. She is survived by her husband, Erv Poore of Woodbine; four sons, Jeremy and wife Angel of Avoca Iowa, Jarrod and wife Joanie of Underwood, Iowa, Joseph and wife Emily of Council Bluffs Iowa, and Jonathan and wife Heather of Avoca; grandchildren, Jonni, Jillian, Kate, Harrison, Zane, Jaiden, Brayden and Eli; sisters, Janet and husband Ron Bergmann of Gretna, Nebraska, Jeanne and husband Gary Hall of Blair, Nebraska, Joanne and husband Randy Mueller of Columbus, Nebraska, and Joyce and husband Mike Smith of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska; brother, John Schmit and wife Judy of Ericson, Nebraska; many nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
