Sharon Nielsen

February 2, 1948 — December 21, 2021

Woodbine

Sharon Marie Nielsen was born on February 2, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska to Delmar and Alberta (Grandon) Jepsen. She attended school in Ralston and then joined the workforce. Sharon held various jobs working in housekeeping before joining the company Sky Chef. Sharon was united in marriage to Francisco Aguilar (Vasquez) on July 31, 1970. She moved to Woodbine, Iowa in 2002 with her daughter Sherri’s family and fell in love with small town life and the people. She made friends with everyone she met and gained many additional non-biological grandchildren.

Sharon was a huge fan of Elvis. She also loved BINGO, taking walks and baking. She enjoyed her time and the people she met at PACE Immanuel Pathways. She also enjoyed getting together with her girlfriends and playing games. More than anything, she cherished her time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to say that “Most people don’t even know my name; they all just call me Grandma”.

Sharon died on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francisco Aguilar; son, Michael Vasquez; and brother, Ray, Jepsen. She is survived by her son, Frank Vasquez and his wife Ginger of Omaha; daughter, Sherri Vasquez and her husband Michael Baker of Woodbine; daughter-in-law, Melissa Lewis of Malvern, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Teresa and her husband Brian Jorgensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Christina and her husband Doug Hoefeldt of Idaho; sister-in-law, Linda Jepsen of Glenwood, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
