We have not livestreamed a funeral service from St. John Lutheran Church yet, so if it does not show up at the time of the service we might be having internet difficulties. If that is the case we will get the service posted later on Saturday.

Vernon Howard Andrews was born on August 6, 1950 in Logan, Iowa to parents Howard and Deloris (Price) Andrews. He grew up in the Moorhead, Soldier Dunlap area and graduated from East Monona High School in 1968. Vern joined the United States Army in October of 1968 and served in Vietnam and Germany. After his honorable discharge he worked at Bill Dunlop’s service station in Moorhead, then began his 30-year career of truck driving with McCord Trucking and then other trucking companies. After he gave up driving truck, he worked security at the Menard’s warehouse in Shelby and then at Sullivan Supply. He retired from Sullivan Supply on January 1, 2022.

Vern was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. He loved to ride his Triumph motorcycle. He loved to travel, visit museums watch western shows, especially Gunsmoke. Vern made sure he made it to Carter’s sporting and school events and the annual Holt picnic. He was a member of the Dunlap American Legion and was chosen to go on a Honor Flight in August of 2021. Vern always had a positive attitude, a smile and had a joke to share with you. Vern loved to visit and could strike up a conversation with the young as well as the old.
