Vivian Louise (Andersen) Ohl was born October 9, 1928, to David and Vera (Parker) Andersen in Harlan, Iowa. She was raised in Harlan until she was 12, and then the family moved to a farm between Earling and Dunlap, and she attended Dunlap High School. Vivian worked in Dow City at Daniel’s Produce. Vivian married Francis Ohl on December 2, 1944, at the Lutheran Church in Carroll, Iowa. The couple lived near Dow City, and then they moved to Carroll. She then worked for Ocoma Foods in Carroll. In 1953, the family returned to the Dow City area and farmed. They also farmed near Dunlap and Logan, and in December of 1964, they purchased a farm near Magnolia. Vivian helped with the farming and was also an Avon and Shaklee representative. Vivian also worked at Harvey Foods in Logan in the bakery area. In 1996, Vivian and Francis built a home in Woodbine.
Vivian was a member of the First Christian Church in Woodbine. She also enjoyed being member of the Red Hat Society.
Vivian died on October 26, 2020, at the Longview Nursing Home at the age of 92 years and 17 days.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis Ohl; two daughters, Mary Ann Ohl and Jean Holcomb; grandson, Jeff Holcomb; daughter-in-law, Ricki Ohl; six brothers, Wilbur, Charles, David Jr., Alva, Norman and Vernon Andersen; and sister, Erville Hein. She is survived by three children, Don (Lu) Ohl of Laurinburg, North Carolina, Rick (Virgene) Ohl of Logan, Iowa, Kathleen Jacobsen of Blair, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren and two on the way; brother, James (Dora) Andersen of Medford, Oregon; and many other relatives and friends.
